Looking for a Micboard alternative? Meet RF Ranger
If you're looking for an alternative to Micboard for keeping an eye on wireless microphones in live production, RF Ranger is an independent project built for live event engineers, churches and production teams.
Micboard made a great idea popular: every wireless channel's battery and signal on one screen, in a browser, for everyone on the team. RF Ranger builds on that kind of workflow as its own project, with its own roadmap for wireless hardware support.
What is RF Ranger?
RF Ranger is a wireless mic monitor for live production. It runs on the Mac or Windows laptop at your RF desk, and any phone, tablet or TV on the network opens it in a browser.
- Battery, RF and audio for every channel, updated several times a second.
- A Micboard-style pickup screen with each performer's name, photo, mic and in-ear pack.
- Planning Center mic assignments and Services Live countdowns.
- Show presets so each screen shows only the mics that matter.
- Free and open source (MIT), and read-only: it never changes a setting on your hardware.

RF Ranger vs. Micboard
Both projects tackle the same job: watching wireless equipment during a show. RF Ranger is an independent project, not an official continuation of Micboard.
RF Ranger supports Shure Axient Digital, ULX-D and SLX-D receivers, PSM 1000 in-ear transmitters and SBC networked chargers, with early support for Sennheiser EW-DX and Digital 6000. Hardware support and features keep growing: see the features page for what it does today.
Who is RF Ranger for?
- Church production teams managing wireless microphones and in-ear monitors every weekend.
- Live event engineers looking after many wireless channels at once.
- Production teams who want one shared view of their wireless equipment's status.
